I’ve been a fiction editor and writing tutor in academic and professional contexts for over eight years. I have edited many different types of fiction—from children’s literature and short stories to literary novels and romance novels.

As an editor, I sincerely enjoy helping others bring their projects to life, whether that means helping a writer improve their manuscript on the sentence level or providing feedback on their larger vision for the book. I see a writer’s overall growth as something that’s just as important to work on as their current project. As a fiction writer myself, I grew the most when I had a mentor who could both help me learn craft techniques and help me discover my own voice, and that’s what I aim to provide to anyone who works with me.

All services below are performed at a flat rate of $80 per hour.

Services

Copyediting

• Thorough read-through of your text to look for basic errors and syntax issues
• I will suggest revisions to improve clarity, tone, or style in addition to fixing any errors
• This is a great option for a finished project that you need edited quickly

Developmental Editing

• We will have a 30 to 60 minute conversation in order to understand your goals for your project before I start reading
• I’ll read through your manuscript and offer in-text comments as well as a feedback letter
  
• Depending on the project, we’ll meet again to discuss the feedback and create a plan together to help you achieve your writing goals
• Developmental editing is the right option when you’re in the middle of a tough project or at the beginning of a new one and need some help planning, organizing, or writing

Academic Editing

• I have experience editing humanities, hard sciences, and social science academic papers and doctoral theses
• We will have a 30 to 60 minute conversation in order to understand your goals for your work before I start reading
• I’ll read your manuscript, and I’ll provide feedback on the sentence level to help get your paper publication-ready
• If you’re at the beginning of a larger writing project, we can also meet beforehand to discuss planning and organization. I’m happy to help with all parts of the writing process!

Tutoring

• If you you have a high schooler or undergraduate who could use some help learning how to become a more effective writer, I also specialize in tutoring.
• I’m a kind, empathetic tutor who sincerely enjoys helping others learn to write. I specialize in helping students learn strategies that make the writing process feel more intuitive and approachable
